Services our patients have access to at VIM

Primary Care – Volunteers In Medicine is a medical “home-base” for those people without health care coverage and the economic means to pay fee-for-service. The clinic manages several volunteer physicians and nurse practitioners who volunteer time to treat patients and provide the highest quality medical care to the ill, and to prevent illness among the well.

Mental Health – The Mental Health program provides access to mental health care including diagnostic services, counseling and medication. The program manages several volunteer counselors, psychologists and psychiatrists who give their time to improve the quality of patients' lives.

Dispensary – Volunteers In Medicine runs an in-house dispensary that provides patients with medication at no cost. The dispensary can only dispense medications prescribed by physicians at the clinic. We fill and dispense prescriptions during clinic hours only. Please do not wait until you are out of medication to request a refill. Plan ahead. Allow at least 72 hours for refills.

Diabetes Management and Education - The clinic offers one-on-one counseling to diabetic patients. We provide blood glucose monitoring, self-testing tools and classes that suport self-management and lifestyle habits to reduce complications and health issues associated with diabetes. These services are offered both in English and Spanish.

Specialty Referral – Several specialists also volunteer time at Volunteers In Medicine. In addition, clinic staff facilitates patient visits to outside specialists.

Women's Health Care - Routine gynecological care is provided at the clinic.
