HEALTH SERVICES

What is VIM?

  • VIM is a medical clinic funded by community contributions. 
  • It provides respectful, high quality medical and health care services to low income, uninsured working people who cannot qualify for government assistance.

Who is eligible for services? How long are patients eligible for services?
 
Individuals and families meeting the following requirements are eligible for services:

  • Residency in Lane County, Monroe and Harrisburg vicinity.
  • Medical condition is not caused by a motor vehicle accident covered by insurance or a work related illness or injury that involves Workers' Compensation coverage.
  • Not eligible for the Oregon Health Plan (OHP), Medicare, Medicaid, or other health insurance. 
  • Individual/Family GROSS income for the last 3 months is less than 200% of the federal poverty level. 
  • Not eligible to receive care through any other health care provider
  • Patients are screened for eligibility every 6 months from the last screening

What services do you provide?

  • General medical and family services
  • Women's care services
  • Immunizations for children
  • Preventive care
  • Health screenings
  • Diabetes management
  • Mental health services

What services are not provided?

  • Dental care, eye exams, chiropractic and naturopathic services, podiatry, obstetrics
  • Emergency services, urgent care, surgery

What are your hours of operation? Where are you located?
 
Monday 9:00-Noon and 1:30-8:30 p.m.
Tuesday 1:30-5 and 5:30-8:30 p.m.
Wednesday Closed
Thursday 9-Noon and 1:30-5:00 p.m. 
Friday 9:00 to 1:00 p.m. 

VIM is located on the corner of West 11th and Seneca by Fred Meyer and on a convenient bus line. Parking is available in the front of the clinic.
 
Do you provide dental care?

  • No. Dental services are not available, but they are available through Whitebird Dental Clinic (541) 344-8302. 
  • Dental hygiene services are available through Lane Community College (541) 726-2206.

What are the costs? Do you accept insurance?

  • Services are provided at no cost, patients are asked to make a donation to support the clinic 
  • The clinic does not accept insurance


Do you have a pharmacy? What if I can’t afford the costs of the prescription?

  • VIM has a small supply of basic medications that are provided at no charge.
  • Not all medications are available because of the costs 
  • Patients are asked to contribute to the costs of the medication if they are able.

Do you provide services to out-of-town visitors?

  • No. Services are provided to residents living in Lane County, Monroe and Harrisburg vicinity.
  • Patients are asked to show proof of residency (e.g., driver's license, etc.)

Who provides the services?

The clinic has a small paid staff who work with a team of licensed medical professionals and community volunteers who donate their services to the clinic.

Are you wheelchair accessible?

Yes. Accessible parking is also available.

Are services available for non-English speaking patients?

  • Spanish speaking staff and volunteers are available to assist patients.
  • When making an appointment please let us know if you need services in another language.
  • We will try to find a translator to assist during the medical visit.

Are services available outside of Lane County?

No.

Do I need medical experience?
 
Some positions require specific medical skills, others do not.

What type of experience and/or license is required?

Training is provided for all positions. Pharmacists, Physicians and Nurses must provide current licenses (unless retired.)

What shifts are open?

This varies constantly. You may contact the Volunteer Coordinator at 685-1920 for current information.

Can I earn volunteer hours for college or work credits?

Yes.

I’m available to work when the clinic is not open. Is there any way I can be of service after hours?

Contact the Volunteer Coordinator at 685-1920 for opportunities outside normal clinic hours.

Are there transportation services available to the clinic?

Can I donate to VIM through a payroll deduction or United Way?

Yes, but you must specify VIM Clinic as your requested beneficiary.
